Final housing scheme on estate could get go-ahead

The go-ahead could be given to houses on the last piece of undeveloped land on a major estate.
A proposal for 114 houses on Middlemore in Daventry, Northamptonshire, is due to be debated on Wednesday.
Councillors decided to delay making a decision on the scheme in January as they were worried about the lack of play areas, garden space and parking.
Planning officers have advised them to grant permission this time round.
The land is located next to Farnborough Drive on Middlemore, an estate on the northern edge of Daventry.
Permission was given in 2018 for a care home, an extra care building with shops and other facilities, and several apartment blocks.
Seven years later, only the care home has actually become a reality.
The latest application from Stonebond Properties proposes 91 houses at market prices and 23 as affordable housing.

At a meeting in January, councillors said they were worried about the number of properties with tandem parking spaces (one behind the other) or no spaces at all.
One committee member said there should have been two play areas for children in the design.
The developer said that there were play areas nearby but not within this development, and also noted that only two objections had been received from nearby residents.
According to the Local Democracy Reporting Service, the committee deferred the application to give the developer time to reconsider the plans.

The revised plans include two play areas and more garden space for the maisonettes but not for the apartment flats.
There is no change to the parking layout but planning officers say the council's highways department has no objection to the provision for vehicles.
The officers have advised councillors that the revised plan is "an improvement" and "would deliver a satisfactory scheme as a whole that would satisfy local and national policy".
The committee is expected to approve the project on Wednesday.
