A lost three-year-old child has been reunited with their parents during a Lancashire Police day of action.

Officers found the child "running around" on Union Street in Accrington after being separated from its parents "who were frantic in the Arndale".

It happened during a dedicated day of intensified police action, focusing on the top priorities from residents and businesses across Hyndburn, the force said.

Neighbourhood officers also arrested a 23-year-old man on suspicion of grievous bodily harm and another man, aged 30, who was wanted on warrant.

They also targeted cars with no tax and vehicles causing obstructions in and around the Springhill area, with 22 cars removed and the drivers issued fixed penalty notices.

Officers were then joined by mounted patrols as they visited the Fern Gore and Springhill areas, where arrests were made.

Visible patrols were also out around Bullough Park to disrupt and target off-road bike nuisance.

Insp Mohammed Lorgat said it was "great to be out working with partners to tackle the issues that matter most to our communities".

"We will continue to actively work with them to address concerns of our communities and this day of action is just a small example of the kind of activity we do day-in-day-out," he said.
