Aston Villa fans told the BBC that they were confident the team could win

Fans of Aston Villa have said they have "no doubt" the team will walk away with a win during the Champions League quarter final.

Mat Sheridan from Evesham, Worcestershire, has been a fan for nearly 30 years and travelled to Paris to watch the game live.

He told the BBC: "The atmosphere's good and everyone's confident. I honestly believe we'll walk away with a win tonight."

Aston Villa will take on Paris Saint-Germain in the first leg of the quarter finals later tonight.

Speaking to BBC Hereford & Worcester from Paris, Mr Sheridan described the moment he arrived.

He said: "I turned to my left and there was a pub full of Villa fans straight away, singing away and having a few beers as you do.

"I'm very confident. I'd take a draw back to Villa Park."

Friends Steve Gough and Colin Abbott have also been following the team's away matches closely.

Mr Gough, from Cannock, Staffordshire, runs Premier Entertainments coach company. He told the BBC he has taken coaches of Villa fans out to every away Champions League match, apart from Leipzig and Monaco.

Also speaking from Paris, he told BBC Radio WM: "We will definitely go through to the semi [finals] I have no doubt about that."

Mr Abbott, from Kingswinsford, went to his first Villa game in 1972. He is currently writing a book about the team's journey in Europe called Unai's Army.

He told BBC Radio WM he was there the last time Villa was in the Champions League final in 1982 against Bayern Munich, and he hoped to be there again.

He added: "We had a good couple of wins on this journey and I can't think of a reason we can't get one tonight.

"I think Villa can go all the way in this - some people might think that's a bit deluded but we won in '82 and we can do it again."
