Three men jailed over 'brutal' stabbing attack

Three men have been jailed for their role in an attack which police say their victim was "lucky to survive".

Billy Lane, 24, of Greenford in London, Kyle Nutley, 54, and Nathan Smith, 34, both of Weston-super-Mare in Somerset, all pleaded guilty to causing GBH with intent.

The trio attacked the victim, aged in his 30s, following an argument on Alexandra Parade in Weston-super-Mare, at around 20:40 BST on 9 June 2024.

The court heard Lane hit the victim before repeatedly kicking him when he fell to the ground, where both Nutley and Smith stabbed him.

The victim suffered a collapsed lung and multiple other injuries and was administered first aid by attending officers.

He was treated in hospital and all three men were arrested less than an hour after the incident and subsequently charged.

Lane was sentenced to four years and four months in prison while Nutley and Smith were both jailed for four years and nine months.

Det Sgt Charlie Allen said: "This was a brutal attack which the victim was lucky to survive.

"He suffered horrendous injuries as a result of the actions of Lane, Nutley and Smith that evening but thankfully has made a good recovery.

"Each of these three men played a significant part in the attack and have rightly now been handed prison sentences for their involvement."
