Gaming centre attack being treated as hate crime

A gaming centre in Londonderry has been covered in red paint and had its windows damaged in what police are treating as a hate crime.

Police said two masked individuals using fire extinguishers sprayed red paint over the premises on Shipquay Street at about 21:30 GMT on Sunday .

The two fire extinguishers were then thrown at the building, damaging the windows.

The shop was targeted in a separate attack in October, when red paint was daubed over the shopfront and windows were smashed.

BBC News NI has contacted Oasis Retail Service for comment.

"Enquiries are ongoing to establish the circumstances of this incident, which at this time, is being treated as a hate crime," a police spokesperson said.

Officers appealed for anyone who was in the area at the time and may have witnessed the incident to contact them.
