The preferred candidate to become the new chief constable of Humberside Police has been announced.
Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC) Jonathan Evison has nominated the current Northern Ireland assistant chief constable Chris Todd for the role.
Evison said he was confident Mr Todd had the "experience, capability and ambition to continue to drive the force forward".
The force has been without a full time chief since Paul Anderson retired at short notice in June.
The Independent Office for Police Conduct said it was investigating Mr Anderson and later confirmed he faced allegations of gross misconduct.
A previous recruitment process last year failed to receive any applications for the post.
Evison paid tribute to the acting chief constable Judi Heaton who came out of retirement to take on the role.
"The force has been under excellent guardianship during Chief Constable Heaton's leadership and I want to record my thanks to her for stepping into the role and providing the much needed stability and support to the force," he said.
"The public have benefitted from improved performance during her tenure and I will be challenging Chris Todd to continue this trajectory for the force so that the public continue to see sustainable improvements in service."

Mr Todd started his police career in Hong Kong in 1990.
He joined West Midlands Police in 1996 and held roles with the National Crime Agency before joining the Police Service of Northern Ireland in 2022.
Mr Todd said: "I am incredibly humbled and proud to be offered the opportunity to become the next chief constable of Humberside Police.
"Everything I have seen and all the encounters I have had with officers and staff so far fill me with excitement at the prospect.
"I am looking forward now to getting stuck into the hard work ahead and getting to meet all my new colleagues."
A confirmation meeting by the Humberside Police and Crime Panel will be held in March.
