Frozen scenes across region as temperatures fall
Frozen fountains, snowy fields and animals playing on frost-covered ground were just some of the wintry scenes captured across the West Midlands this week.
The region was subjected to a number of weather warnings for snow and ice over the past few days, as temperatures fell to well below freezing.
This led to a number of school closures, as roads and public transport were also disrupted.
Residents have been sending in images of scenes across the region, including a stunning picture of a frozen fountain in Stoke-on-Trent.
Water usually spouts from the mouths of dragon statues mounted on the fountain in Cauldon Park, Shelton, but much of it had frozen in motion, covering the feature in icicles.
Rich Scott, who took the picture, said he was stunned by how the shapes of the ice had formed on the mythical beasts.
"I've seen the fountain freeze over completely before in 2018 and 2021 and was wondering if it was going to do the same again," he said.
"When I first saw [some] water running from a distance, I was a bit gutted because I didn't think it was frozen over but I think this one is the best yet."
