Road outside railway station closed after bus crash

A major road in Doncaster has been closed following a bus crash opposite the city's railway station.

South Yorkshire Police said the A630 Trafford Way had been shut in both directions between the St George's Bridge roundabout and Cleveland Street roundabout.

A 61-year-old bus driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode, which caused the vehicle to veer across the carriageway and crash into roadside railings at around 04:20 GMT, police said.

The force said he had been taken to hospital, where his condition is described as life-threatening as a result of the medical episode.

Officers said there were no passengers on board the double decker at the time and there were no reports of any other injuries.

Drivers have been advised to avoid the area, while any witnesses to the crash have been asked to get in touch with police.
