Warwick Road has been the focus of complaints from residents

A road that has seen three fatal crashes since 2018 is set for new crossings and speed cameras.

Measures to improve the A41 Warwick Road in Solihull are part of a £1m project after years of complaints from residents about dangerous traffic.

Solihull Council secured the funding from the the Department for Transport (DfT) and had asked residents how it should be spent.

It comes after a viral video captured the moment a car flipped onto its side before narrowly missing a woman and child.

Paul Tovey, head of service at Solihull Highways, said there had been a "positive response" from residents living nearby.

As a result of feedback, areas of focus will include average speed enforcement cameras along the route, humped zebra crossings at key sections, reflective carriageway markings and a new education programme.

"The vast majority were supportive of the programme of measures we put forward," Mr Tovey said.

"We can't do everything. There were a lot of calls for measures to be done around the Dovehouse Parade junction.

"That would have taken up so much of the budget we have decided not to take that forward at this stage."
