Woman, 77, attacked after man forces way into home

A 77-year-old woman was attacked in her home by an "unknown suspect" who forced his way inside the property, said police.

The woman was left with facial injuries after the attack by a man wearing a balaclava at about 21:45 BST on 16 May in Storrington, said Sussex Police.

It was "unknown what his intention was", said the force.

A 39-year-old man, from Storrington, was arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage. He was released on conditional bail until 19 July.

Police said enquiries were continuing and urged anyone who saw suspicious activity in the area around the time of the incident or with relevant video footage to get in touch.
