Residents of Tiree have expressed their frustration at the ongoing closure of the island's only library.

Live Argyll, which runs community and leisure services on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council, shut the site in November after the sole librarian retired.

The charity has published a business plan for the next two years, but Tiree's library was not included on the list of its facilities.

Tiree Community Council has urged Live Argyll to reconsider its decision to keep the site closed.

Community council convener Gerard McCoogan said the closure was a "big loss", and claimed Live Argyll spent "virtually no money" in Tiree.

Live Argyll has been approached for comment.

Tiree, on Scotland's west coast, is home to 650 people.

The nearest other library is four hours away by ferry in Oban on the Argyll mainland.
