A man has been charged with rape after a woman was attacked in a park.

The woman was attacked in People's Park in Banbury, Oxfordshire, between 02:30 and 03:30 BST on Sunday, Thames Valley Police said.

Faris Suleiman, 19, of no fixed address, has been charged with one count of rape.

A force spokesperson previously said the woman had met a man at a venue in the town centre before they left and he took her to the park where the rape took place.

The woman, who is in her late teens, is being supported by specially-trained officers.

Mr Suleiman appeared at Oxford Magistrates' Court and was remanded in custody to next appear at Oxford Crown Court on 2 May.
