A man who repeatedly demanded money from a disabled woman at a cash machine has been jailed.

Nottinghamshire Police said Anton Peck approached the victim, who was in her 40s, from behind in Beeston town centre on 1 May 2022.

The 42-year-old tried to grab her phone when she refused and a struggle ensued until the woman screamed out and Peck ran off before being detained a short time later.

Peck, of Mill Road, Eastwood, Nottingham, was jailed for three years at Nottingham Crown Court on Wednesday after admitting 14 charges.

These included attempted robbery in relation to the cash machine incident.

'Frightening ordeal'

Peck also admitted one count of stalking after bombarding a woman with unwanted messages, which the force said left his victim feeling physically sick.

He admitted eight counts of theft after stealing alcohol, boots and electrical items from shops in Nottingham along with two counts of assaulting an emergency worker after he attacked officers during his arrrest.

Det Insp James Oakton said: "Peck's aggressive and intimidating behaviour was understandably incredibly scary and traumatic for the vulnerable victim of this attempted robbery.

"I hope she can feel reassured now that Peck has been put behind bars for the frightening ordeal he put her through."
