Popular city 10km race sells out in two hours

A popular city centre 10km (6.2 mile) race sold out in less than two hours.

General entry to Run Norwich opened at 09:00 GMT.

The race, due to be held on 7 September, will mark the event's tenth anniversary.

About 8,500 runners are expected to take part.

Run Norwich was moved from its traditional high summer slot last year after being postponed in 2022 due to extreme heat.

Organisers said the junior run, held for the first time in 2024, will return this year.

Two new course records were set in 2024 with Jonathan Escalante-Phillips completing the race in 30 minutes and 41 seconds - nine seconds faster than the previous men's record.

Holly Archer, 30, from Bury St Edmunds, Suffolk, shaved five seconds off the previous women's record by finishing in 34 minutes and 38 seconds.

Run Norwich, organised by the Norwich City Community Sports Foundation, raises thousands of pounds for charity each year.

Dozens of roads across the city are closed while the race takes place.
