Woman dies after being rescued from house fire

A woman has died after being rescued when a fire broke out at a house in Solihull.

Emergency crews found the victim at the house in Kingshurst Road, Shirley, shortly before 22:00 GMT on Tuesday.

The woman was in a critical condition and paramedics gave her advanced life support at the scene, West Midlands Ambulance Service said.

However, they were unable to save her and she was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.

West Midlands Police and West Midlands Fire Service have been contacted for further information.
