Homes plan would nearly double village population
Plans for a large housing development could almost double the population of a Worcestershire village.
Barwood Land is proposing to build up to 1,000 homes, plus a new primary school, village hall and sports facilities, on land at Rushwick, close to Worcester.
The developer said it would also put aside land for a potential railway station.
The plans are still at an outline stage, known as a "scoping request", and Barwood Land has not yet submitted a full application to Malvern Hills District Council, the local authority for the area.
Barwood said the development would contain a mix of house sizes, with 40% being affordable housing.
It also said there would be five hectares of employment land, close to the A4440, as well as shops, allotments and a public open space.
The railway station, if it is built, would have land set aside for a 500-space car park.
