Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving after a woman was fatally struck by a car in Halifax.

A burgundy Mazda 5 TS2 hit the woman near the Flying Pig pub on Crag Lane in Wheatley just after 01:00 BST on Tuesday, West Yorkshire Police said.

The woman, whose identity was yet to be established, was pronounced dead at the scene and the vehicle involved in the incident was found later after its driver failed to stop, a force spokesperson said.

Two teenagers, aged 15 and 18, had since been arrested and remained in custody, they added.

Road closures were still in place while investigations continued, the spokesperson said.

Anyone with information about what happened, or with footage from the scene, was urged to contact West Yorkshire Police.
