Boy, 14, pleads guilty to violent disorder

A 14-year-old boy has pleaded guilty to violent disorder during a night of trouble in Leeds last year.

The disturbance flared in Harehills when hundreds of people gathered on the streets for several hours on the evening of 18 July after four children were taken into foster care. The children were returned to their family the following week.

The boy, who cannot be named due to his age, attended Leeds Youth Court with his parents on Tuesday.

He entered his plea through a Romanian interpreter and was told he would be sentenced at the same court on 11 February.

West Yorkshire Police said 50 arrests have so far been made in relation to the disorder, with 17 people charged and five sentenced.
