A driver has been arrested after a man was killed and another seriously injured in a crash in East Yorkshire.

A silver Subaru left the road and hit a tree on Meaux Lane near Beverley at about 17:00 GMT on Thursday, Humberside Police said.

The passenger, a 37-year-old man, died at the scene and the car's driver, a 38-year-old man, was taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A 36-year-old man who was driving a Vauxhall Mokka was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving. He remained in custody on Friday, police said.

Officers have appealed for any witnesses or anyone with dashcam footage of the incident to contact police.
