Bookshop volunteers raise record £67k for hospital

Volunteers running a charity bookshop and rattling donation buckets are celebrating after raising a record £67,000 for a hospital.
Money raised by Stars Appeal, Salisbury Hospital's charity, helps fund new equipment, enhancements to buildings, and projects supporting patients.
The charity's Helena Sinclair, praising the total raised last year, said: "This is an incredible achievement for our wonderful bookshop and bucket collection volunteers.
"We are hugely grateful for the time and dedication they give to supporting the charity."

Stars Appeal funds have also paid for emergency patient clothing and toiletries, hospital chaplaincy, support for patients with cancer and a play assistant on a children's ward.
The Stars Appeal bookshop made £48,619 of the total – with bucket collectors raising a further £18,717.
Volunteers, whose work has been supported by stars including actress Olivia Colman, were joined by hospital staff for a special presentation to unveil the grand amount raised.

Ms Sinclair added: "We want to say a massive thank you to our volunteers and to everyone who supports the bookshop and bucket collections, for making a difference to thousands of patients, their families, and staff at Salisbury Hospital."
