Man, 83, arrested after gun reported in pharmacy

An 83-year-old man who was reported to have a gun while visiting an Isle of Wight pharmacy has been arrested.

Armed police officers were called to Day Lewis Pharmacy in Wootton Bridge at about 16:30 BST on Friday.

A search for the man was carried out by officers after he left the pharmacy and he was found about three miles (4.5km) away, near Seaclose Park in Newport, at about 20:15.

Hampshire and Isle of Wight Constabulary said an elderly man, from Wootton Bridge, was arrested on suspicion of possessing a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence.
