Man arrested for attempted murder after stabbing

A man has been arrested on suspicion of attempted murder following a stabbing.

Emergency services were called to Ashcombe Road in Weston super Mare at around 3.15 BST on Thursday following the attack.

The victim, a man in his 40s, was taken to hospital with critical injuries but is now in a stable condition.

A 33-year-old man was arrested on Saturday night and remains in custody, Avon and Somerset Police said.

Enquiries are ongoing and investigators are appealing for witnesses to come forward, while officers are conducting additional patrols in the area.
