A boy has been charged with offences in connection with widespread disorder which took place in Leeds in July.

Trouble flared in the Harehills area when hundreds of people gathered on the streets for several hours on 18 and 19 July 2024.

West Yorkshire Police said the 12-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, had been charged with violent disorder allegedly committed on the evening of the 18 July and was due to appear at Leeds Magistrates' Court later.

A force spokesperson said more than 40 arrests had so far been made following the disorder, with 15 people charged and five sentenced.
