Contractor sought for alarm inspections
Authorities in Guernsey say they are looking for a contractor to inspect and replace alarms in States houses.
The States of Guernsey Housing said the successful bidder would also be asked to install additional smoke alarms in the lounges of properties owned by the States.
It said only electrical contractors, approved by the National Inspection Council for Electrical Installation Contracting or the Electrical Contractors' Association or National Association of Professional Inspectors & Testers, would be used.
Housing said the properties have a combination of "some or all" of the mains connected Aico alarms.
They include a smoke alarm in the hall and landing, heat alarm in the kitchen, carbon monoxide (CO) alarm in the lounge or any room with a gas or solid fuel burning appliance, and in flats there may be smoke alarms in the bedrooms.
The department said: "Each year Housing identifies which alarms are due for replacement and compiles a work schedule. This work is undertaken as part of a separate Alarm Replacement contract."
Housing added the response deadline was January 2025.
