A hospital surgeon has been charged with attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child.
Matthew Isles worked as an Ear Nose and Throat consultant at Royal Stoke University Hospital and County Hospital, in Stafford.
The 52-year-old was charged on Tuesday following an investigation by Staffordshire Police and later appeared at Stafford Magistrates' Court.
He is on conditional bail and is due to appear at Stoke-on-Trent Crown Court at a later date to be fixed.
The University Hospitals of North Midlands NHS Trust said it was continuing to work with police.
It said patient and staff safety remained its top priority and encourage anyone concerned to contact the Patient Advice and Liaison Service.
