Five men stole cash from the property in Lyme Regis

Police have appealed for witnesses after two people were assaulted during a burglary on the same road as the town's police station.

Five men with their faces covered and armed with weapons entered a home in Lyme Regis and demanded money.

The incident happened on Hill Road around 0350hrs BST on Saturday 12 April.

Det Con Mia-Isabella Bowditch, of Dorset County CID, said: "A full and detailed investigation is underway into this incident as we work to identify who was involved."

Two people were assaulted during the incident, but the injuries they sustained were serious. One was taken to hospital for further treatment.

The men left the property with a quantity of cash.

Det Con Bowditch said: "I am keen to hear from anyone who may have captured anything of relevance on either home CCTV, doorbell camera or dashcam footage."

"I know this incident may cause concern in the community. I would like to reassure that a detailed investigation is underway".
