The pint-sized Posh fan who goes to every game

A five-year-old Peterborough United fan has been praised for his dedication in attending every league game of the season, home and away.

Frankie will walk out with the players ahead of Posh's final home game on Saturday - his sixth outing as mascot and his 44th as a spectator.

He and his mum Becky plan to head to the remaining two away fixtures, having clocked up thousands of miles following the League One side from their home in Boston, Lincolnshire.

"We've done Blackpool and Crawley on Tuesday nights but Frankie still gets up the next day and goes to school, bright-eyed and bushy-tailed," said Becky.

"Everyone at Posh is fantastic, every single player, the backroom staff, people in the ticket office, everyone is aware of Frank and the dedication we put into going to games because it's not easy."

Frankie has loved all things Posh since he was a toddler, with Becky following the team for almost 30 years, since the age of eight.

"We are just a massive football family, and it's all Peterborough United, there's no other team," she added.

The pair travel some 35 miles to each London Road game and the same distance to their closest away match at Lincoln City, the scene of a 5-1 drubbing in January.

Their longest round-trips to away fixtures have been the 520-mile (836km) slog to Exeter City and back; Blackpool at 364 miles (585km) and Crawley Town at 336 miles (540km).

Posting on X, club director Iain Crawford described Frankie's feat as "simply incredible", and thanked him for his support.

Frankie told BBC Radio Cambridgeshire, striker Ricky-Jade Jones was his favourite player "because he's so fast and gives the best goal celebration in the world - the snake".

And the final score when they meet Bolton Wanderers on Saturday?

"5-0 to Posh," he said.
