WW2 and the outdoors celebrated on Surrey Day

Residents and visitors across Surrey made the most of the sunshine on Saturday to celebrate the seventh annual Surrey Day.
Events took place across the county, with this year's theme taking inspiration from the role Surrey played during World War Two, following on from the 80th anniversary of VE Day.
A second theme for the day was "take the lead", which aims to promote the outdoors and walking in Surrey's countryside.
Surrey Day is a partnership between BBC Radio Surrey, Visit Surrey and the Surrey Lieutenancy.

Jo McGowan, from Hello Dorking, told BBC Radio Surrey there was a "street party atmosphere" at celebrations at St Martin's Walk.
She said: "We've got so many community groups that have got involved with doing things. All the retailers have been decorating their windows."
BBC Radio Surrey visited outdoor beauty spots throughout the day, including Newlands Corner, Gatton Park, and Stoke Park in Guildford.

Chair of Visit Surrey, Christine Howard, said the local community was at the core of the event.
"We're seeing more cafes, restaurants, plus museums and other local attractions all getting involved and lending their support," she said.
Surrey Day 2024's theme was Surrey from the Sky and included radio shows from Birdworld in Farnham and Brooklands Museum in Woking.
