A couple set out to furnish their entire home with items from a local hospice's shops after they moved to Ross-on-Wye.

Miley and Ryan spent between £1,500 and £1,600 after three weeks poring over goods what St Michael's Hospice was offering.

They said their purchases included a dining table and chairs, a TV unit, a sofa, a footstool and ornaments.

"We would much rather put money into supporting a local charity than buying new at three times the price," the couple said. "Now, pretty much everything in our home is from St Michael's Hospice."

They said they got to know Neil Parkinson, assistant manager at the shop at Hereford's Whitestone business park shop, who helped them find furniture pieces and to arrange home delivery.

Miley and Ryan also visited the Ross-on-Wye branch at the Alton Road industrial estate.

A hospice spokesperson said by choosing pre-loved furniture, the couple had embraced sustainable living and made a real difference to those in need.

St Michael's Hospice has 18 charity shops across the region selling furniture, fashion and homeware to raise funds for hospice care.
