Cashless parking is changing in Herefordshire, with the council switching apps

The local authority has urged people to download the JustPark app in advance due to parking scams that have affected motorists across the country.

People will be able to use it from 7 January and the last day drivers can use the existing RingGo is 10 January. There will be no change in pricing, the authority said.

Herefordshire Council is calling on people to set up the new app in advance and only download from an official app store.

Councillor Barry Durkin, cabinet member for roads and regulatory services, said the local authority appreciated the new app would be a new experience for people to get used to.

"This is why we are urging those who frequently use cashless parking to please download the JustPark app as soon as possible, to familiarise themselves with it and avoid any last minute difficulties when the service switches over," he said.

"There have been instances in the past of people falling victim to scam apps, so it is important that this risk is avoided."
