Mid West Cornwall is the last of five areas of the county to get the new household rubbish and recycling system

An event is being held in Cornwall ahead of the final phase of a new household rubbish and recycling system being rolled out.

Cornwall Council said a waste and recycling drop-in roadshow would be held at Ponsanooth Hall in Ponsanooth from 13:00 to 15:00 GMT on Tuesday.

The authority said residents would have the chance to hear more about changes which have been introduced across the county in stages since January 2024.

Changes from the council include the introduction of a weekly food waste collection and rubbish collections happening fortnightly in a bid to cut down the amount of non-recyclable rubbish in Cornwall.

The Mid West area of Cornwall, which includes locations such as Falmouth, Camborne, Redruth and Truro, is the last of five areas of the county to have the new system introduced.

The council said Mid West residents would receive a collection calendar in February with more details about when the new service would start for them.
