Council plans £9.7m highways investment

City of Wolverhampton Council will invest £9.7m in highway improvements over the next year, the authority has said.

It has proposed a mix of surface dressing and full resurfacing works in an attempt to deal with potholes.

The council also plans to complete a street lighting upgrade involving a switch to energy saving LEDs.

Cabinet member for transport Qaiser Azeem said: "By investing we can ensure an efficient, safe and smooth flowing network for all modes of transport that supports businesses and helps achieve our sustainable regeneration ambitions and climate change commitments."

The planned improvements are pending approval at the council's cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
