Fire crews tackle blaze in derelict building
Firefighters were at the scene of a derelict building fire in Ashford on Saturday after it was first reported on Friday night.
Ten fire engines initially attended the blaze in East Hill, Kent Fire and Rescue Service said.
Kent Police said the force was called shortly after 23:15 GMT on Friday to a fire at the building and that Mace Lane was closed while fire crews extinguished the blaze.
"The road has now reopened and enquiries are under way into the cause of the fire," it added.
In an update at 09:00 on Saturday, the fire service said an earlier warning to those nearby to keep their windows and doors closed due to a large amount of smoke had been lifted.
The spokesperson added: "Two fire engines remain in attendance as crews continue to extinguish a fire at a derelict building on East Hill."
