Seafood producer Mowi could sell its fish feed mill in Skye as part of a strategic review of operations.

Sixty people are employed at the site in Kyleakin, which opened in early 2019 at a cost of £100m.

Mowi said it would now undergo a review to assess whether it would continue to produce its own feed, or concentrate on farming and processing salmon.

About 180,000 of tonnes of pellets are produced at the company's south Skye base, and used on its salmon farms in Scotland, Ireland, Norway and Faroe Islands.

It also supplies feed to other companies.

As part of the global review, Mowi said it would also look at its feed mill at Valsneset in Norway.

Chief operating officer of feed, Atle Kvist, said he understood the review would create uncertainty.

Mowi said it would support staff throughout the process.
