Police were called after reported gunfire in Birmingham on Tuesday

A man is in hospital in a serious condition after being shot in Birmingham on Tuesday, police have said.

West Midlands Police were called to Lea Hall Road just after 22:20 GMT following reports that shots had been fired.

Shortly after, the force said a man arrived at a hospital in the city with gunshot wounds, which are thought to be life-changing.

It added that it was investigating the incident and was carrying out CCTV and other enquiries, as well as reassurance patrols in the area.
