Tribute to dad killed in Good Friday crash

A man who died after a crash on Good Friday has been described as a "beloved" dad.

Kevin Wilson, 55, was seriously injured in the three-vehicle collision on Causey Road in Stanley, County Durham, at about 17:00 BST.

Mr Wilson was taken to the Royal Victoria Infirmary in Newcastle but died the next day, Durham Police said.

An 18-year-old man, who was driving an Audi A1, was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving, serious injury by dangerous driving, driving while under the influence of drugs and possession with intent to supply.

He has been released under investigation while inquiries continue, the force said.

A 15-year-old girl who was a passenger in the Audi suffered serious injuries. She remains in hospital but is expected to recover, police added.

In a statement, Mr Wilson's family said: "Kevin was a beloved father, son, brother, grandad, uncle and friend to many, he will be sadly missed and has left a huge hole in all of our hearts."

The force is asking anyone with information about the crash to come forward.
