Singer and councillor among 11 to deny illegal dog breeding

Sara Davies and Euros Davies are among 11 people facing charges related to illegal dog breeding

A singer and councillor are among 11 people who have denied charges related to illegal dog breeding and fraud.

Sara Pritchard Davies, 28, former winner of S4C's Can I Gymru (A song for Wales) competition, and Euros Davies, 60, a Ceredigion councillor, appeared at Swansea Crown Court in the case brought by Ceredigion council, working with trading standards.

Sara Davies, who pleaded in Welsh, Euros Davies and Delyth Mathias, 29, each denied two charges.

They pleaded not guilty to participating in fraudulent business, namely the unlawful breeding and supply of dogs, and a second charge of acquiring criminal property.

Five others, Margaret Jones, 70, Rebecca Ellen Bailey, 30, Cara Bennett, 39, Rhydian Davies, 27, and David Bethell, 37, all pleaded not guilty to the former charge.

All eight were released on bail until a hearing on 2 September.

Thomas Jones, 27, David Peter Jones, 76, and Nerys Wyn Davies, 54, were not asked to enter pleas, and will appear in court again on 12 August.

A trial date has been set for 9 November 2026.
