Plan ahead warning for city centre junction work
A new phase of roadworks around a busy Nottingham city centre junction will begin from Monday.
An £8.97m project had seen the Maid Marian Way island - which connected the road with Derby Road, Tollhouse Hill and Upper Parliament Street - removed in the autumn last year.
Work at the new T-junction is now planned to the kerbs along Maid Marian Way and footpaths at Tollhouse Hill.
This will impact both the roads and bus stops and Nottingham City Council said people should allow extra time for journeys.
From Monday, there will be lane closures northbound on Maid Marian Way.
Bus stop Y7 on Tollhouse Hill will be suspended for up to 10 weeks with buses instead using the Y5 on Wollaton Street.
Nottingham City Transport is also changing its Navy 4 and Orange Line bus routes for two weeks, from Monday 13 January, due to the disruption.
Navy buses will not serve Nottingham Trent University's City Campus and instead start and finish from Angel Row, while Orange Line services will not serve Angel Row and remain on Upper Parliament Street.
The Maid Marian Way project will continue until the summer, said the council.
Work began in spring 2024, with officials saying the roundabout was "outdated" and a barrier to movement for pedestrians and cyclists around the city centre.
While the new road layout itself has been completed, work is continuing on "new public realm areas and planting".
This includes planting 41 native trees and creating a "rain garden" to manage run-off into a low-lying "waterlogged" planted area.
