The northbound stretch of a major dual carriageway is due to close over four nights.

National Highways said the stretch of the A1 would shut between Tempsford in Bedfordshire and the Black Cat roundabout, which is close to St Neots in Cambridgeshire.

It will be shut between 21:00 and 05:00 BST, from Monday, 9 June to Thursday, 12 June.

UK Power Networks will remove overhead power cables close to the road. The work is part of a £1bn project to build a new carriageway.

A diversion - which is set out on the National Highways website - will take place between the A1 Tempsford exit and the A428 at Eaton Socon in St Neots.

There will also be daytime closures because of work to the new Roxton Road link, which will include road surfacing, road markings and new kerbs.

  • Roxton Road will be closed 07:00-17:00 Monday and Tuesday
  • Chawston Lane will be closed 07:00-17:00 on Wednesday
  • The Lane in Wyboston will be closed 07:00-17:00 from Monday, 16 June to Friday, 20 June

The closures this week are related to the building of a new A428 road, which has included a new bridge at Roxton Road

Further road closures will be carried out to continue the work on a new junction at Cambridge Road, St Neots.

National Highways said that for the team to work safely, the A428 between Tithe Farm (Loves Farm) roundabout and Caxton Gibbet roundabout would be closed from Friday, 13 June at 18:00 to 06:00 on Monday, 16 June.

It was also hoped a new Bedfordshire road, between Roxton Road bridge and The Lane, Wyboston, would be open by the end of the month.

The works are related to the 10-mile (16km) dual carriageway being built between the Black Cat roundabout and the Caxton Gibbet roundabout near Cambourne, which is due to be finished by 2027.
