A man has been charged with firearm offences after a gun was pointed at a police officer's face.

The 32-year-old from Salford was arrested in Whalley Range on Wednesday following an incident in Higher Broughton on Tuesday, Greater Manchester Police said.

He has been charged with possession of a firearm, possession a firearm when prohibited for five years, possession a firearm with intent to endanger life and assault of an emergency worker.

The accused was due to appear at Manchester Magistrates' Court on Saturday.
