A scheme that encourages people to use environmentally friendly modes of transport will be extended.

Under Bracknell Forest Council's Eco Rewards scheme, businesses and residents receive rewards and incentives for using greener travel options.

Schools can also take part by promoting walking, cycling, wheeling, and car-sharing to reduce car usage on the school run.

The scheme, which started in 2014, has been extended until the end of 2027 by the council.

Guy Gillbe, the authority's planning, transport and countryside chief, said the project was a "fantastic way to help change your travelling habits".

"Choosing a more sustainable option is better for the environment as well as your own health," he said.

"You can win prizes and receive discounts and cashback at lots of online retailers simply by walking, cycling or choosing public transport more."

Green and active journeys can be logged using the Eco Rewards app, or by scanning any of the 150 QR code signs across the borough.

The QR codes have been strategically positioned on routes to schools, train stations, bus stations, and selected bus stops to make it easier to report public transport journeys, the council said.
