Police are trying to locate a car following a serious collision that left four people needing hospital treatment.

Essex Police said it received reports of the crash involving a silver Mercedes in Epping Road, North Weald, shortly before 22:30 BST on Friday.

Officers said initial witness accounts suggested the Mercedes may have been travelling alongside, or in convoy with, a small silver or light-coloured car.

However, this car was not at the scene of the collision and police are trying to locate it.

The force said it would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident, saw the vehicles in the lead-up to it or has dashcam footage.
