Sex shop and adult cinema granted new licence

An adult cinema and sex shop, which opened in Wolverhampton in the 1990s, has been granted a new licence following an application earlier this month.
City of Wolverhampton Council agreed the licence at the Foxy Lady club in Oxford Street, Bilston, after the venue closed in March after the death of owner David Parsons.
Andrea Parsons applied to the council for a new sexual entertainment venue licence, which received the backing of its regulatory committee on Tuesday.
Plans to reopen the venue's strip club, which opened in 2016, would be looked at in the future "if at all," Mrs Parsons said at the committee meeting.
"At this time, and not just due to the economic situation, I need to focus on the shop and the cinema," she told councillors.
The club was "very discreet," she added.
Her application asked for permission to open from midday until 06:00 daily.
No objections were made by the police or the fire service or any other responsible authority, the council said.
The club, which opened in the 1990s as the cinema and shop, was given a venue licence in 2005 which it had held since.
In 2012, the venue's opening hours were extended to 06:00 although this came despite objections from several residents who were concerned about noise and traffic into the early hours.
This news was gathered by the Local Democracy Reporting Service, which covers councils and other public service organisations.
